Mauricio Santelice was born in Chile. Raised by his mother on a
small farm he learnt very early on to appreciate food, with his family growing mostly what they ate.

After studying and obtaining a bachelors degree in Culinary Arts
he took a bold move and set his sights on working in the U.S.A. with a focus on becoming a Pastry Chef.

During Mauricio’s career he has worked for many prestigious companies around the world, including: HYATT International, Celebrity Cruise line, Disney CO. and Joe’s Stone Crab.

In recent years he relocated to New York City where he has worked as a private family chef, chocolatier and is now the Executive Pastry Chef for the hottest new hotel in New York City, The Dream Hotel Downtown and the Marble Lane restaurant.

Here he oversees the pastry division. Breakfast to dinner he constantly refreshes the offering with specials or as seasons request. From continental pastries to intricate dinner desserts he visually and strategically works to complement the main menu. He also partners with the other chefs to create menus for special events, celebrity private parties, corporate business functions, PR events and weddings.

Always pushing and honing his skills Mauricio’s latest endeavor takes him in to a new world. This fall he appears as a contestant on the hugely successful TV show Sweet Genius which airs on Food Network, October 27th.
